This is an acrylic painting I made a week ago.
I don’t know how I feel about it, really.
On the one hand, I do like how the mountains in the center ended up.
I used a pallette knife to kind of scrape the paint on, which made some paint from the yellow background shine through. A nice effect, I think.
On the other hand, I think the rest of the painting came out a bit.. hard.
The colours don’t mix harmoniously, and it ended up looking a bit messy.
I don’t know if I’ll keep this one, or clear the canvas and have a new go at something else.
But, as always, a new experience richer 🙂
I understand what you mean , perhaps a black sky with stars ✨ but what do I know apart from I can see it’s almost there. Hope you don’t mind me saying. 😉
Not at all. I appreciate the feedback ☺ I do like it, in some ways, but it just feels a bit off… Perhaps a darker sky would do something about it ☺
Painting is like discovering, it often gives us Aha-moments … 🙂
That is very true ☺
☼ I like the vivid expression of the painting. I also like the colour combination.
I’m glad you like them ☺ Yes, I think the colours do create a vivid expression, which is something I’ve rarely used. I’ll keep the positives, and learn by the negatives, I guess ☺
I like it! I am a fan of The Fauve art movement. Van Gogh and Gauguin et cetera.
I’m glad you do, Anna ☺ I hadn’t thought much about the colours role in the painting beforehand, but I guess it ended up pretty strong in colours ☺
When I first saw this painting, I thought: Klingon territory! Then I read that, to you, it comes across as “hard”. So, I guess I see what you mean. Nevertheless, I wouldn’t dismiss this painting. There is something intriguing about it.
Thank you 🙂 Klingon territory was a fun comparison, which I didn’t have in mind when I made it 🙂 I also think there is something intriguing about it, it just feels a bit off.. 🙂
