A british pub, or perhaps a church?

This is a watercolour painting of what I guess is a church, even though I was searching for some pubs to paint on the internet.. 🙂

It’s ok, but – as always – I want to paint in a looser style than this (!)

How can it be so hard being less detailed?? 🙂

Anyway, it was a fun session, and a break from the digital work I’ve been spending time on lately.

Next time I think I’ll try doing a landscape theme. Maybe that’ll be easier to paint in a looser style 🙂

  1. I completely understand what you mean when you ask “How can it be so hard being less detailed?”. I find that very difficult too. You seems to have the right sort vision to paint in that beautifully loose way – you’re way ahead of me!

    1. I know, right? It’s good to hear that I’m not the only one, though 😉 Even when I try my best to keep the details light, I overwork it 😀 I think you manage the amount of details very well. For instance, the details on your golden shiner is amazing! It looks natural 🙂

      1. Probably to do with the pub’s connection to The Crusades. If you get the chance, visit. The rooms are built out from the cliff and it’s caves. Good choice to paint!

      2. I can’t say that I’ve made it justice, then. But I appreciate the choice to paint it even more 🙂 The british architecture and climate really speaks to me when it comes to painting, so I should definitely visit the UK for some inspiration 🙂
