At Dusk

It was due for a christmas card, so I tried painting some snowy pines at dusk.

The grains on the paper got a bit dominating on the photo, but I’m very pleased with the result:

I think it ended up pretty cool with the contours of trees in the back, which I added when the paper was still a bit damp.

I then used a dark blend of indigo for the pines in front, and some white gouache for the hints of snow.

I then decided to put the card in a golden frame, for a potential christmas present.

I hope you like it, and that you’re having a nice day πŸ™‚

  1. You’re right about the grain of the paper- but I honestly think it makes the picture! It gives it dimension, and more of a realistic look.

    1. Thank you. I’m very glad you think so πŸ™‚ I think the grains ended up a bit more dominating in the picture than it is in real life, but it definitely has an impact on the whole composition πŸ™‚
