I’ve had a period lately, where I’ve been taking the time to have a look back.
For six years now I’ve been so obsessed about creating new pieces, that I’ve never taken the time to slow down and actually LOOK at what I’ve made.
So, having quite the time going through my old paintings in the attic, it came as a surprise to me that this piece was lying there all neglected in a pile of paper.
It brought back so many memories, and I feel kind of stupid saying that it was kind of emotional.
I remember how I just threw it away when it was finished.
Not in a bad way, but in that eager way, like “now I’m done with this. On to the next”.
I mean, why didn’t I put it right up on a wall thinking that this was good enough?
So I decided I would finally do it justice.
And I will look at it, and feel proud about having painted it.
Because it is not perfect, but it is good enough for me.
I think I needed to grow my confidence, both in my painting and in life in general, to realize that.
So here it is.
In a frame.
Just like it should be!
And I hope all who reads this post does the same thing with your own artwork 🙂
