Midnight Glow – A Terrible Photo

This is a terrible photo of a watercolour painting I made a while back:

The reason why I’m posting it, though, is to express how fun I found it using a palette knife to depict waves.

I simply did a quick wash of different types of blue, and let it dry for a while.

Still a bit moist, I used the knife to make decisive cuts through the paint.

It works very well, I think, when I manage to make the waves out in one fast cut.

When I use two or more, the paint and paper end up smudged, as you can see in the bottom left corner.

All of this is dependent of the moisture of the paint, though.

And that is why I love watercolour.

It is brutally hard sometimes.

But when it works out, you feel like you’re on top of the world.

And that’s why I’ll keep at it!

I would love it if you left me a few words
