About Me

My name is Kim Goksøyr Strande, currently living in Trøndelag, Norway.

In an attempt to find a hobby to spend time on, I started painting in the summer of 2015. I hadn’t done a single painting since kindergarten, but was instantly hooked.

This website was brought to life for my own motivation to keep on going, and to share, collect and document my journey forward from my very first painting.

This way you can follow my progress – or regress – as I go. Either by visiting my complete timeline gallery, reading posts from my different sessions or just checking out my favourite pieces.

In the long run I hope to increase my skills step by step. I didn’t know a thing about either painting or drawing when I started out, and have learned just about everything I know through the internet and hobby books.

During the first three years I used water soluble oil paint for all my paintings. I then started using acrylics, watercolours, pro markers, pens, pencils and digital programs as well, hoping it’ll make me a more complete painter/drawer in the end.

Placid is described as “serenely free of interruption or disturbance”, which is exactly how I feel when I pick up the brushes. A place to get totally engrossed, losing the sense of both time and place.

If you leave a comment or some form of feedback it would mean a lot!

Hope you enjoy!

    1. I’m so glad to hear that! It’s definitely the best way to zone out of the regular world, and into something fantastic! 🙂 Hope to see much of your work in 2019 as well! 🙂

  1. Hi Kim, just saw a post from you in Doodlewash and discovered your blog. So brave to document your journey! I only started posting my drawings & paintings since joining Doodlewash and often feel reluctant to put on rubbishy ones. But I think it is good to share, especially with other artistic people. I feel as though I learn with everything I do.

    1. I’m so glad you found it interesting! 🙂 I do very much dislike posting work I’m not pleased with online, but I’ve decided that I want to show my real progress to those who visit my site. I know how lost I felt at first, doing one bad painting after another while watching all the fantastic stuff other people managed to make. I think I may actually have learned even more from my unsuccessful work than from those I consider successful though. Simply because it’s so frustrating that I never want to make the same mistakes again 🙂 I think it’s great that you’ve started posting your work. It sure can feel both scary and vulnerable, being afraid to basically get laughed at. However I still get overwhelmed by all the support and positivity I’ve met in the different communities. We all start at the same place, I guess 🙂

  3. Hi Kim, I have just found your website and blog and look forward to sharing your journey with you. What a fantastic idea to document your progress. Your paintings are beautiful 🙂

    1. Hi, Lotte! Thank you so much for tagging along, and for your kind words 🙂 Documenting my journey demands some courage from me, since I’m far from pleased with all my paintings. Nonetheless, I want to give an honest view of both progress and regress as I go. I’m looking forward to following you as well 🙂
